Cleaning the Air on Delay in Construction of Nsaje Stadium

Cleaning the Air on Delay in Construction of Nsaje Stadium

There has been an outcry by some of the sports fan who thought that the construction of Nsaje stadium is taking longer than expected. Ganizani Zongoloti, one of the strong soccer fans in Malawi, is complaining about why the construction of the Nsanje stadium is taking place at the slowest rate unlike the other stadiums in the other districts started probably at the same time. He is not pleased by the fact that they have to travel longer distances up to Nchalo to watch their favorite teams playing. The fact that they travel long distances increases the cost and the time used. This is not favoring most of the fans hence they prefer some crucial matches to be staged at Nsanje to cut off the costs.

Nsanje District Council rubbishes the allegations that the council is wasting the resources that were set aside for the project. Area district commissioner Gift Rapozo agrees with the fans complain that the stadium has taken longer to be completed, but calls on the people to bear with them. Some of the reasons the DC is giving that lead to the delay include; lack of proper design on the shape of the stadium by the contractor hence making it difficult to kick-start the project.

Inadequate resources, lack of direct guideline on what was required in the stadium during the time of commencing the project are some of the other reasons cited by Gift Rapozo. Rapozo is rubbishing away the claims that the project is drugging itself due to lack of money as vague.

The District Commissioner says that they have been using money from the District Development Fund kitty and other revenues collected from the region for the construction of the Nchalo stadium. At times the council gets it hard to convince some of the area stakeholders to allow the transfer of money for the implementation of the project.

The council is planning to have another contractor to work on other parts of the stadium to have a standard work that will make the whole community proud. Currently, the council is trying to reach out to various stakeholders and well-wishers to financially boost the project.
