A new plant power in Malawi

A new plant power in Malawi

In Malawi, the Japanese firm Mitsubishi obtained the building of a power plant in Tedzani. The structure, which will be able to produce 19,5 MW, will be settled in Thyolo and managed by the Electricity Generation Compagny Limitied (EGENCO). The construction work is expected to last 39 months.

When the project was launched, Aggrey Masi, the minister of Natural Resources in Malawi, spoke in favour of hiring local workers for this project.

Mitsubishi answered they were already taking this into account as around 60 persons were already hired in Malawi. And this figure is expected to get higher.

When finished, the power plant will improve the electricity supply in Malawi that is insufficient, with a total capacity of 351 MW and an electrification rate of 11%.
